3rd Conference of the National Assembly to Support the Resistance Choice: Closing Statement

The National Assembly to Support the Resistance Choice, concluded its third annual conference, which came under the title "The Resistance Choice and State-Building", with a final statement that was read out by the President of the Assembly Dr. Yahya Ghaddar. The following are some of the key points of that statement:
The National Assembly to Support the Resistance Choice wrapped up its third conference this year titled: "The Resistance Choice and State-Building", with the participation of intellectuals, academics and researchers, nationalists and Islamic additional to representatives of the leftist forces in the Arab world, the Islamic Republic in Iran and foreigner attendance.
The participants emphasized that the resistance choice is the choice of the Arab and Islamic peoples and the Liberals of the entire world. Additional to being a general cultural, nationalistic, social and humanistic concept, stemming from the fact that the resistance as a responsibility should not be borne by particular forces, but rather be the property of a people with faith in the justness of their cause and the legitimacy of their struggles.
The participants also agreed and stressed that:
- Palestine as an issue remains the central cause of the Arab nation and the Islamic world
- Our struggle with the Zionist enemy is an existential conflict rather than one of borders
- The right of return of the Palestinian people is fixed, and none has the right to forgo it.
The participants:
o Reject all forms of resettlement and normalization with the Zionist enemy
o Condemn the failure of the official Arab regime which "for example" held the resistance responsible for the Zionist aggression on Lebanon in July 2006 rather than the aggressor, and instead of exercising pressure in favor of the resistance, some plotted against it. The same applies to the Zionist aggression on Gaza.
Dr. Ghaddar read the closing statement:
- The conferees stressed the need to document war crimes in Palestine, Lebanon and Iraq through research, books and documentary films, for its preservation in the national memory and to make it available as irrefutable evidence to convict and bring them to justice the Zionist and American war criminals.
- The attendees agreed on the establishment of the Arab-Muslim Assembly to support the resistance choice, to enhance its role in opposing and eliminating the Zionistic-American project through resistance, reform and unity.
- With regard to the Lebanese situation, the conferees stressed that building a capable and just state can be accomplished but through the choice of resistance, reform and unity.
- The participants emphasized their belief in the importance of having a free judiciary system, achieving freedom and attaining democracy as well as a society of justice, equality and rights of the citizens to live in freedom, dignity, security and safety.
- The conferees stress the importance of establishing the National Authority for the Abolition of Political Sectarianism as a gateway for crossing into a national political democratic system. Such system is to act as a foundation for citizenship, as a legal and political expression of the homeland and its citizens as a basis for security and stability.
- The participants confirm their conviction that thought renewal and systemized action enhances national culture, the twin of culture is resistance, and thus paves the way for the development of capabilities and for removing the constraints of underdevelopment and fragmentation under the purpose of change, modernization and development.
