Parliament speaker Nabih Berri pointed out that "the open debate about the resistance weapons outside the regulations of the dialogue cast could tempt "Israel" to take advantage of the situation and manipulate the differences among the Lebanese either to create internal rivalry or to launch a new aggression against Lebanon.

In an interview with As-Safir newspaper, Berri considered that "some people are ignoring the truth when they try to imply to the public that the request of "not raising the issue of the resistance weapons outside the dialogue hall" is sort of a confiscation of freedom of speech and opinion."

He said that "the persistence of loud public debate accompanied by harsh arguments would eliminate the role of the dialogue table and its value, which is supposed to withdraw the issue of the weapons from being negotiated in a random and absurd way, in order to put it in an institutional framework that holds all our views and opinions that are supposed to take its range of interaction within the closed hall to reach the production of the common points."

Berri also questioned the extent of benefit we'd gain "if we expose ourselves to the enemy, at a time when we are supposed to discuss a defense strategy to confront its (Israel's) violations.

Berri added "How is it possible that we are not able to protect the defense strategy by benefiting from our own mistakes, before even discussing the means of protecting our country from the "Israeli" danger?

He also assured that "we are not supposed to complement each other on the dialogue table or to avoid saying what we really feel, but we are meant not to expose our internal weakness or problems to the enemy.

Berri stressed that the resistance is from the Lebanese welfare, it is as important to Lebanon as its water, assuring that it is "the duty of the Lebanese army to defend its country against the Zionist enemy, but its modest capabilities caused for the emergence of the resistance, until the state regains its readiness and build its capacities.
