Al Quds: The Capital of Earth and The Capital of Heaven

Today is Al Quds day, and the last Friday in the Holy Month of Ramadan. The last day of this Holy Month is a day for Al Quds- the capital of earth and heaven- in every year for clear reasons related to reviving the Palestinian cause and reminding the nation of its historical responsibility.

Al Quds Day is a great heritage Imam Khomeini (may he be honored) left us- as Imam Khomeini was the founder of this day, when he declared the last Friday of the Holy Month of Ramadan as Al Quds day following the victory of the Islamic revolution in Iran and the decline of the Shah system along with its cooperate helpers, the U.S. and ‘Israel' and turning the ‘Israeli' embassy in Tehran into the first Palestinian embassy in the world.

Today, this day of the Holy city, its people and belongings is commemorated across the world by Muslims and non-Muslims alike. On the last Friday of The Month of Ramadan every year, people pour into streets and squares holding rallies and ceremonies in support of the Palestinians.

Al Quds Day, the day of ALL Palestine from sea to river is not an Islamic religious holiday but a political event. It is the day of the Palestinian and Arab detainees remaining in "Israeli" prisons, a day of the displaced, a day of the besieged Gaza, of the Holy Aqsa Mosque that has been constantly a target to the "Israelis" whether settlers or army. It is the day of every street and lane and neighborhood in Palestine, the day of every resistant, withstander and fighter in the face of the Zionist scheme. 

Coinciding with this day is another round of so-called peace talks doomed to be failing like all the previous ones, and for those who have forgotten, this is just another round of talks of a series that had in fact started since the mid-1970s.

The first direct talks since 20 months between the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas and "Israeli" Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu began on September 2nd in the White House, with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton hosting the talks.

The "Israeli" government has presented its unwavering decision concerning the settlement freeze in the West Bank, as according to Netanyahu, settlement construction is to resume on September 26th.

As revealed in the news on Thursday, the Palestinian president was steadfast in his call on "Israel" to halt settlement construction, Netanyahu called for "mutual recognition", and the US acted as a mediator -the usual. But behind this scene, the US continues unconditionally to provide the subsidies and political protection that make the "Israeli" occupation and the high-handed and self-defeating policies.

And so, the central purpose of the "peace talks" and the main demand of "Bibi" Netanyahu: Arab recognition of "Israel's" "right to exist".

For more than four decades, "Israel" has been able to rely on aid from the United States to dominate the Middle East region militarily and to sustain its economic prosperity, whether it is billions of dollars for weaponry or other such as the 500 million dollars the US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Jeffrey Feltman confessed of investing in Lebanon to tarnish the image of the resistance.

The "Israeli" enemy has counted on its influence in American politics to block the application of international law and to protect itself from the political repercussions of its policies and actions.

For more than four decades, "Israel" enjoyed immunity despite all the barbaric acts it conducted in the region, but several stages changed the equation in the region, and unmasked the frail "Israeli" entity.

First was the "Israeli" 2000 withdrawal from Lebanon, second came the 2006 July war the "Israelis" waged on Lebanon -they still suffer the repercussions of their brutal aggression on Lebanon that ended in a defeat. Third, the Gaza war that proved the Palestinians unbowed. Moreover, two other incidents were able to make a way into the international opinion and show the "Israeli" brutality practiced in the region, these are the Gaza siege and the attack on the peaceful convoy "Freedom Flotilla Fleet" that intended to break the siege and deliver aid to the 1.5 million imprisoned in the enclave.

The outcome: the international image of the "Israeli" entity deteriorated, the once invincible army was defeated, the equation in the region changed, and the region relentless on calling: No to Recognition of an "Israeli" state, no to normalization with it , and no conceding with circumstances no matter how difficult they get.

Al Quds international day is the loudest, widest, and most comprehensive call and protest in face of the Zionist state and its cooperate helpers and allies who violate rights and manipulate the world for the sake of their own good and benefit nevertheless of all the harm they cause.
