Habiba Al Mahdi

Wednesday the 13th of October is not another day that passes normally on Lebanon. It is a special day that both the friend and the enemy would equally remember, as both parts have been eagerly preparing for it.

It is a day when Lebanon celebrated day and night, as the people don't always have the chance of meeting and thanking the man who held their banner and devoted his life and position for assisting them in demanding their rights and crushing their occupier.

As the Lebanese flowed to the airport road early in the Morning to welcome President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, thousands more responded to Hizbullah and Amal Movement's invitation to attend the welcoming ceremony held in the Raya playground at 7 p.m.

The "most honorable, generous, and modest people" were extremely passionate to express their gratitude for this man who saw their sacrifices, appreciated them, and insisted on thanking them by providing a decent living.

With celebrations, Lebanese and Iranian flags were raised up high, red and green balloons everywhere, and loud new chants specifically for the Iranian Guest, the Lebanese revealed they were meritorious.

As Zahra B., the Odaisseh citizen assured, "I have been waiting for the President on the airport road since 6:30 a.m., and I'm taking part in this celebration just to tell him you are welcome. This is the least that we could do to reveal our appreciation to President Ahmedinejad who was so generous to us."

"Iran's President is beloved for his modesty and deep faith, and God blessed him with this popularity because of these characteristics," the middle-aged Zahra added.

The distinguished, generous Islamic Republic of Iran was represented today in Lebanon with this "unique" president; the modest, courageous president who followed his Islamic beliefs and standards in his political work and path, discarded any financial goal, and attracted the entire world by that.

Nermin, an Iranian young woman living in Lebanon, yet holding on to her Iranian dressing style, went early to the playground and waited for her president. In Persian, she excitedly welcomed Ahmedinejad expressing her pride that he is her country's president, and assuring that this is his second land just as it is for her.

The 18-year-old girl congratulated the Iranian people for this heroic president, who according to her, does not resemble any president in the world.

According to Nosaiba, a British "observer" residing temporarily in Lebanon, she took part in this celebration to witness a "controversial" person who has an effect on Lebanon and the entire world.
"He is a very interesting person," she assured, pointing out, "He does not take the easiest path in politics. He is not afraid to stand on his own."

For Lebanon, this was an exceptional visit. "The country had the chance to make use of the technologically and economically developed Iran,"

Jenin K. a 14-year-old Southern Suburb resident indicated, while the 23-year-old Hassan A. assured that if Presidents of all the countries followed Ahmedinejad's internal and external policies, no young man would immigrate.

For its friends, Iran is not just another ally. This is the case with Lebanon and with every other country that asks the Islamic Republic for support.

Furthermore, for its enemies, Iran is not just another foe those could clash with. As the persistence that this state has, could defeat any enemy.

For Bassam D., Iran is the source of security. He is a man who left his homeland Lebanon around 30 years ago after the restaurant he owned in the South went out of business because of "Israel's" aggressions.

"Today," Bassam said, "After 30 years, I came back from Saudi Arabia and reopened my restaurant. However, today there are no losses; there are only financial and morale gains."

He added, "Today we have a protector. God provided us with three stars. The sun is in the middle, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah's glow is on the right, and Ahmedijnejad's is on the left."
