Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdel Karim assured that the relation between Syria and Lebanon is built on mutual respect, memorandums, agreements, and pacts signed between the two neighboring countries. In a statement to al-Intiqad website, the Syrian ambassador said "We wish success to any government in Lebanon that aims at bringing prosperity to both countries and works for their interest," adding "as for the Lebanese domestic affairs, it is Lebanon's concern and Syria is not engaged in such affairs."

Abdel Karim rejected the Saad Hariri accusations on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Hizbullah Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah toppling his government. He stressed that any talk about Syria being involved in the formation or toppling of the Lebanese government is fabricated.
The Syrian official also reiterated that Syria is pretty much concerned of having brotherly relations with Lebanon, pointing out that there is a list common interests between the two countries, with the confrontation of "Israel" topping the list.

Ambassador Abdel Karim reiterated the importance of the ‘golden formula' of the people-army-resistance, which fortifies Lebanon in face of "Israeli" threats.
On the Syrian level, Abdel Karim assured that Syria is overpassing the crisis despite the mass conspiracy woven against it. He recalled the fabrication of facts and news of some media outlets, but once again reiterated that despite all conspiracies the Syrians with their strong partisanship and loyalty failed all conspiracies.

The ambassador also noted that all such conspiracies pour into the category of oppressing the resistance movements which are doomed to failure.
