Globalization Fears Islamic Awakening
The West had long been looking for its own school of thought to compete with other schools. After the collapse of the Soviet Union and the fall of Marxism the western imperialism felt it was in an empty zone. It created Globalization, and born from the womb of capitalism, it successfully extended to the globe through invasions and wars against the Islamic region in order to strengthen their production companies. Creation of Globalization was a new way of controlling the economics of the world. It was like an agent for change, through focusing on youth and women in the name of freedom and democracy.
Globalization as known has opened a new horizon in front of people and continues the exchange of human experiences in different societies. It has also been a growing trend towards overcoming the geographical boundaries and the political constraints, in addition to the ability to capture the possible exchange of cultures and human experience in different societies. The confusion came after the world thought in the theories about the end of history as put forward by Francis Fukuyama, or the clash of civilizations as Samuel Huntington phrased it, or the inevitable end of history and the clash of civilization as Thomas Friedman theorized it.
Intellectual endeavors to convert Liberalism into an ideology was aimed at the continuation of Liberal notions because of fear of falling down, as happened to the socialism system after the fall of Soviet Union, which was inevitable to fall. Discussing the capitalist ideology about the inevitability of maintaining its existence and finding Globalization was not the attempt of creative capitalists, but getting the idea from the ideology of Islam after witnessing how this religion could continue in spite of all the historical circumstances pressures. Liberalism witnessed the historical evidence how Islam as an ideology is renewed in every age, and how each of its renewals makes it the largest and the most comprehensive.
It also witnessed this religion's existence everywhere and every time, therefore it was said to be the fastest religion to spread worldwide; and according to statistics, it grows at the rate of 2.9 percent yearly. This is what makes the west fears Islam would be the alternative to Liberal Ideology after the fall of communism.
Globalization's goal seems to serve the humanity and to unify its determination through removing barriers between all the human beings, promoting humanitarian values in their existing living world, and protecting their values from distinct. This comes in addition to resisting the control that limits the freedom of mankind in economy or receiving information. However; we will stand here at the issue of values asking, "Could those values determine standards and speculations?" This is a big questioning of Globalization that does not have a clear answer, especially in light of the guiding Globalization absence, which makes it unable to draw a track of economic and social issues and intellectual property.
But the Islamic awakening which started to emerge since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran by Ayatollah Khomeini, took the spot light and the joy in lowering the flags of the Imperialism, proving that the universality of Islam no matter how much its enemies try to leave it behind and away from public life, will appear again and save mankind, because this religion is for the entire world. "They want to extinguish the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah refuses except to perfect His light, although the disbelievers dislike it"(Altawba, 31).
The Islamic awakenings began again in other places of the Islamic world, those places Imam Khomeini hoped would awaken and emerge and restore the nation's glory, so they have responded to Imam Khomeini's call:" O, oppressed people of the world, unite"
Islam as a continuous system answers all questions about all life details, and stands now in the face of Globalization through pointing and stressing on the right path of human history. In general, Muslims believe that there is a call in the west to reform the international financial system and put forward an alternative that combines socialism and capitalism in an attempt to save the latter and make it survive forever. Through the aforementioned, the west would demonstrate and avoid bankruptcy of the capitalist system, which means that Islam is the model for mankind. However, this form must be the inevitable move and should be activated.
The differences between Western Globalization and Islam were being stated by most of the thinkers in the world as following:
1. Islam aims to publish its human values, ethical and divine principals, while the Western Globalization aims to empty all values of religion and morality.
2. Islam aims to protect human dignity of all human beings, while the Western Globalization aims to maintain its dignity and U.S banks.
3. Islam aims to affirm human rights, freedom and equality, while the Western Globalization aims to affirm the rights of Western man.
4. Islam aims to affirm the human rights protection in soul, mind, beliefs, property and honor, while the Western Globalization aims to protect Western democracy beliefs.
5. Islam aims to establish Islamic scales of justice among people according to Allah's constitution, while the Western Globalization aims to consolidation of the Western civilization among the people.
6. Islam maintains its Global Islamic institution of the family and respect for women, while Globalization of Western companies maintain of its profit and expense of all the values, beliefs and ethics.
7. Islam aims to stand against oppression and exploitation in all its forms. While the companies of Western Globalization exploit and oppress developing countries in their rights in development.
However, the Islamic people who took action and made a difference and still are achieving the Islamic awakening, are now facing the threat of Globalization trend. The optimists of the successful awakening are in large numbers, and they consider the future of Globalization as a fashion that would fade quickly and break down sooner than we would imagine. This will be through the display of the realistic historical extrapolations and the west in general and specifically the united state of America, because there is a lot of historical evidence that confirm the universal validity of Islam and humanity as a whole.
The challenge of the Islamic awakening in facing Globalization in order to demonstrate the universality of Islam, is to address the current problems resulted by Globalization; which stands in the face of the Islamic awakening. This is the future project that should be designated for the universality of Islam.
As was the Islamic revolution in Iran influential in promoting the current Islamic awakening, it would be the evidence and it would prove the application of the universality of Islam.
Islamic awakening is facing another challenge in putting strategies in educational development and media for the rise of the Islamic nation and achieving the universality of Islam in order to attain the sovereignty of Muslims. Moreover, this aims at unifying the Islamic culture in order to face the cultural system imposed by the Globalization, and dominated the essentials of the Islamic world culture.
Globalization is confused how to describe the Islamic awakening, and comes with new concepts such as "terrorism" or "fundamentalism". Globalization also claims that the conflict will remain political with Islam as an enemy, and that the Islamic awakening only aims at facing the West and its civilization. The event of September 11 has contributed in fueling these ideas and spreading them around the world.
Fukuyama recognized that Islam is an ideological and coherent organization, and that political and social justice are its laws and principals. Therefore he further believes that Islam has a universal appeal so that it can be up to all mankind, but its gravity lies in it seeking to defeat liberal democracy in the world because of the negative practices of the liberal nature of aggression which links the survivals with destroying the others and creating a permanent enemy in order to ensure cohesion an continuity.
There is no fear for the Islamic awakening, for the isolation of the West would be inevitable because of the future demography. After decades of sustainability, the United States and Europe cannot stay at the same sustainability because it will decrease in the population, and will show the demographic problem on the world map, and then there will be a serious Global strategic change, which would be applied to all the details of politics, economics and sociology.
The day will come and the image of the protestant and Anglo-Saxon America will be revealed, and the clash of civilization will be at the heart of the American civilization. Nothing is final related to the effective mental generators when people seek the change and replacement on the world map, and when people are serious about it with all what require sacrifices
