Witness to Smuggling: What Happened to French Journalist “Edith Bouvier”?

The visitors of Wadi Khaled (Arabic for "Khaled Valley") know what exactly is going on over there; whereby this region has become a passageway to and from Syria, crowded with smugglers who have recently been actively smuggling arms and individuals. That is, in return for approximately USD 1000, paid in cash, the human and arms smugglers allow the underhand passage of anyone with any motive to pass the borders, claiming these individuals belong to press. In fact, it is not very hard to deal with those smugglers as long as the money is there; yet, they try to claim their acts are "innocent", giving them an "ethical" dimension.
As for journalists, who usually are well-informed or enthusiastic, ambitious young people, their movements are provided by the human smugglers and the NGOs as soon as they arrive in this region.
Thus, "Edith Bouvier's" journalistic motive has pushed her to visit Syria whereby she's been able to reach Homs.
Hereupon, the Syrian opposition has had no real interest in the French journalist's evacuation from Baba Amr, where "Bouvier's" only way out could be provided by the mafia net that helped her to get to this place.
This French journalist's dramatic situation makes us understand better that France and its allies insist on making international forces establish "human passageways" between Lebanon and Syria.
Perhaps it's good to mention that the former French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner himself was who made the United Nations (UN) issue a resolution on the right to intervene for human reasons (as in the case of the former Yugoslavia).
*The article is translated from the French Website of the Islamic Resistance.
Having announced that the French journalist "Edith Bouvier" had arrived safely in Lebanon, the French President Nicolas Sarkozy retracted his statement afterwards. Anyway, the French press, which is always on guard when it's about Syria, has made sure not to comment on the French president's public slip since the public authorities are quite influential to the French press, also since this is a human issue whereby the journalist is wounded, and caution must prevail so as to facilitate her transport.
Yet, the French press has intended to dismiss that the fact that "Edith Bouvier's" incident has highlighted the illegitimate nets smuggling arms from Lebanon to Syria, particularly to Homs, where French officers are active.
The favorite crossing point is the wilderness of the Huneider Village, twenty minutes away from Homs City. In spite of the harsh winter, unusual activity takes place in this village, especially at night. Foreigners who have a lot of money to spend flow to this village, and now renting any little hut over there costs USD 400 a month - a phenomenon unprecedented in this distant region.
NGOs, previously unknown, exist in this region, claiming they provide shelter for the Syrian migrants, but what they actually do is effectively monitoring the movements and the recruitment of spies, as well as contacting the opposition combaters. Though this hasn't been clearly acknowledged, it could be said that northern Lebanon has become a base for the armed Syrian opposition.
A human smuggler led "Bovier" to the combaters of "the Free Syrian Army" on the other side of the borders. Then they immediately moved her to Bab Amr, where they would use her to serve their media campaign. That is, broadcasting a video showing the wounded young lady would greatly influence the international public opinion.
As for the French president, who claims heroism as to fighting illegitimate immigration to France, how can he provide cover for the illegitimate passageways between Lebanon and Syria when he claims he seeks helping the first and defending the people of the second?!
Now, to the West, the expression "human passageways" means passageways for combaters, arms, and press; that is, reinforcing the war against the regime of the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is the aim.
Intervention has become the International Community's new means to interfere in the countries where new actualities can be imposed in convenience with the West's direct interests... But none is going to be deceived anymore.
