Religious Head of the Druze Sect in Syria: We’re with the State, Not to Give Up National Constants

Sheikh Akl (Religious Head of the sect) Druze sect in Syria, Hamoud Yahya Hennawi stressed that "Syria will emerge from the crisis and the plot that is being hatched against the country."

In an interview with "al-Intiqad" website, Sheikh Hennawi confirmed that "the Druze in Syria stands by the Syrian regime and the process of reform it is adopting."
"We[The Druze] in Syria have a national line, and we are working hard to put the nation above all other considerations, and this applies to all Arab issues," he highlighted.

Hinnawi further emphasized that "the Syrians look to Lebanon as a brother country and a friend people," pointing out that the relationship between Syria and Lebanon is based on the fact that they are one people in two countries."
"There is a permanent cooperation between the two countries for the national interest of both Damascus and Beirut as well as the entire Arab and Islamic nation,"Henawi added.
 
Commenting on voices seeking to place the Druze against the Syrian state, he described these voices as "merely political views."
"We are not to give our of our constants and principles that we have set in the Arab Mountain and along the sect in Syria," the head of the sect stated noting that "our constants are clear and we respect each other."
He also said that "we believe in dialogue and working for the good of the country, especially in Syria and Lebanon."

In parallel, Sheikh Hinnawi hailed Hizbullah's attitudes towards Syria stressing that "Hizbullah has our [the Druze]appreciation and respect because it adopted the resistance track."
"No one can deny the Secretary General of Hizbullah Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah's role towards the Arab nation's issues," he concluded.
