Abdel Azim: ’’Friends of Syria’’ Paris Version to Pressure Syrian Regime

The head of the "Syrian Opposition National Coordinating Committee" Hassan Abdel Azim confirmed that "the "Friends of Syria" conference- to be held in the French capital, Paris, on Friday- aims at supporting the UN envoy Kofi Annan's plan as the only way out of the crisis."
"The conference is to exert more political pressure on the Syrian regime," Abdel Azim stated.
In an exclusive interview with "al-Intiqad" website, the opposition figure stated that "as long as the crisis and the cycle of violence continue, the Syrian people will suffer and the international attempts to intervene in Syrian affairs will persist".
"It is time to respond to popular demands, such as freedom and justice under the exceptional circumstances that prevail in Syria," he stressed.
The Syrian opposition figure went on to say that "as soon as the Syrian crisis is resolved, it will cut the way for the international parties to intervene in Damascus' affairs."
"This will end all the problems and the complexities ao that the country is able to move towards a democratic system," he viewed.
In parallel, Abdel Azim, described his recent visit to Moscow and his meetings with Russian officials as "successful".
"The Russian friends listened to the committee's demands since it is providing the right political way out of the current crisis with the minimal losses and costs," he added.
He further clarified that "the Russian leadership stands firmly with Annan's initiative and demands that all sides abide by it."
