Al-Makdisi: Making Annan’s Mission Successful Up to UNSC Not Single Country

Syrian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Jihad al-Makdisi, confirmed in an interview with al-Intiqad online newspaper, that it is "not surprising to hear [expected] statements from countries that only aim at foiling the mission of the UN envoy, Kofi Annan, even before its success."
Al-Makdisi's remarks come in response to latest statements by French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe, who suggested a UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution, based on Chapter 7 of the UN Charter, to deal with Syria in case the UN missions failed.
Moreover, al-Makdisi indicated that Annan's mission and making it successful is up to the 15-state UNSC and not on a single country. He further stressed that his country is documenting all the systematic violations committed by the terrorist armed groups, and is informing the UN envoy Annan of them respectively.
