Syrian Terrorists Assassinate Imam of Sayyeda Ruqayya Mosque
The armed Syrian rebels assassinated Sunday the Imam of Sayyeda Ruqayya mosque, Sheikh Abbas al-Laham, in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
The attackers assassinated al-Laham while he was heading from the mosque to his home.
The martyr is one of the several religious figures killed in the country in recent months. His assassination came a day after the head of the UN observers' mission described the situation in Syria as calm.
Major General Robert Mood praised Syrians for their hospitality, stressing that the UN mission is trying to help the people in the country.
Earlier, a huge crowd attended the funeral of a Christian woman killed in twin blasts in the capital on Thursday.
Thirty-year-old Dima Farah was on her way to work when the explosions took place.
Meanwhile, UN observers continue to monitor a ceasefire, which has officially been in effect for more than three weeks.
