Debkafile: Obama Secretly Provides Syrian Rebels with Anti-Tank Arms

This week's NATO and G-8 Summits' discussions were to no avail on finding a solution to the Syrian crisis; the states taking part in the discussions arrived to no common ground on how to deal with the unrest. Yet, sources report that US President Barack Obama has made an initiative, meddling in the Middle-Eastern country.
Military sources had told the "Israeli" Debkafile that the US administration has made a deal with foreign intelligence that involves equipping Syrian rebels with modern anti-tank missiles.
The Syrian rebels have received their first "third generation" anti-tank weapons, 9K115-2 Metis-M and Kornet E, following a secret message from US President Barack Obama to his Gulf allies, reported Debkafile's military sources.
The arms, according to the report, are supplied by Saudi and Qatari intelligence agencies following Obama's furtive demand, advising them to up the military stake in the effort to oust Assad.
The anti-tank missiles reaching the rebels through Saudi and Qatari channels are only one facet of the unfolding US plan for the Syrian crisis, the sources noted.
Moreover, Debkafile said that the Syrian ruler and his allies are not shaken in their conviction even with heavy weapons in play, because the majority of the population is still behind the regime.
Saturday, May 19, only two days before Obama took action, he had said in a speech to the G-8 summit at Camp David that "Bashar al-Assad must leave power."
In March, President Obama told the Atlantic Weekly, "It is our estimation that [Assad's] days are numbered - it's a matter not of if, but when."
