Lavrov: Syria’s Crisis might Spread to Lebanon, Rebels Aim to Fail UN Plan
In a televised news conference on Wednesday, Lavrov warned that "there is a tangible threat of the Syrian uprising spilling over to Lebanon."
"This could end very badly," Lavrov cautioned.
He also warned about "an artificial escalation of tensions between two main branches of Islam, Shiites and Sunnis."

On the Syrian developments, the minister urged Syria's opposition disparate groups to comply with a UN-brokered ceasefire and end all violence.
"The opposition's goal was to sabotage a peace plan of UN envoy Kofi Annan," he stressed.
The head of the Russian diplomacy stated that "we see a serious violation of a UN Security Council Resolution, which approved the plan and which contains
calls both for the government and opposition to cease the violence."

"Those who incite further violence... should honestly say what they want," Lavrov concluded.
