Lavrov: Russia Won’t Allow Any UN Resolution Permitting Military Intervention in Syria

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov expressed confidence that the UN Security Council (UNSC) would not permit any foreign military intervention in Syria.
In a statement he announced on Thursday in the Astana, Kazakhstan, Lavrov indicated, "A foreign intervention through a UNSC authorization would not happen... I guarantee this to you."
Moreover, Lavrov added that if a comprehensive conference on Syria was held in presence of the 15 state countries, then all other forms to settle the crisis should be annulled.
"What we intend is the participation of states like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Iran and Turkey, the Arab League as well as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation under the supervision of the UN," Lavrov's statement read.
On this level, the Russian Foreign Minister reiterated that all parties that claim support to UN Special Envoy Kofi Annan's peace plan should prove their stance in a true manner, after convening the aforementioned conference.
