Syria: Authorities Stop Terrorist Group Smuggling Arms through Iraqi-Syrian Borders

Armed terrorist groups trying to smuggle a large amount of weapons near the Syrian-Iraqi borders clashed with Syrian authorities in Abu-Kamal city in Deir Ezzor.

According to a provincial source, the clash resulted in wounding a number of terrorists and seizing their weapons, said Syria's state-run news agency SANA.
The seized weapons included 58-mm mortar, 5 mortar projectiles, 7 RPG launchers, 15 anti-tank RPGs, 10 anti-personnel RPGs, 15 RPG propellant charges, 13 PKC machineguns and a sniper rifle, 4 Russian-made machineguns, an anti-aircraft Dushka machine-gun , 81 boxes of Dushka ammunition, each of which include more than 40 bullets in addition to PKC cartridges, reported the source.
On another note, the military engineering units on Sunday dismantled a 50-kg explosive device planted by an armed terrorist group on Shenshar - al-Qseir road in Homs Countryside. The explosive device was prepared for remote detonation to target the citizens and law-enforcement forces.
Also, the engineering units dismantled an explosive put by an armed terrorist group under a car in Qatana, Damascus countryside on Monday.
SANA quoted a source in Damascus countryside that another explosive planted near Adraa was blasted leading to material damages.
