Iran: EU-US New Sanctions Threaten Global Energy Security

Iran denounced Sunday the US-European new sanctions on its economy.
In response to the new round of sanctions, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ramin Mehmanparast, stressed that "by their move, the US and the European Union have threatened the energy security and balance
"They (the West) should be accountable to the negative effects on the world economy resulting from their irresponsible measures," he warned.
Mehmanparast also noted that "this is due to the fact that the security of supply is an inseparable part of security of global energy market."
The Iranian official explained that "the unilateral sanctions imposed by the US and the EU lacks legitimacy and contradicts international regulations, including free trade principles."
"The US and EU should be awaiting confronting problems such as intensified financial and economic problems, as well as further social protests," he confirmed and pointed out that "these are in addition to political and diplomatic consequences of sanctions."
Mehmanparast further highlighted that "by imposing sanctions, the West showed that they do not pursue constructive approach vis-à-vis Iran."
"Their unconstructive approach is at a time while during talks between Iran and Group 5+1 (five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany), the two sides emphasized mutual trust," he added.
He once again said that Iran believes in the motto "Nuclear weapon for none, peaceful nuclear energy for everyone."
"Iran will defend this approach in all international organizations and meetings while being determined to get achieve its nuclear tights," Mehmanparast reiterated .
He emphasized that "the Iranian people not only do not bow to pressures, but the sanctions have even made them become more united and determined to maintain self-sufficiency."
