She Meets Slayer of Qana in “Tel Aviv” Then Receives Honorary Degree in Beirut?!

*"Israeli" Firms in Lebanon 

In fact, the most recent breach made in the field of economy, revealed the "Boycott Supporters of "Israel"" campaign in Lebanon to "al-Intiqad".
The campaign points out as well it is about to issue a whole file on the promotions and sales of four ""Israeli" beauty firms" in Lebanon, whereby these firms' goods are imported by Dubai (the greatest source of promotion of the "Israeli" goods). That is, they are repacked in Dubai and sent to Lebanon as "US" goods rather than "Israeli" ones. 

Certainly there's more on this issue: The sector of tourism and services in Lebanon probably constitutes the weakest point exploited by the Zionists, seeking a profound permeation into the Lebanese arena. The recent years have made this actuality obvious, especially when the summer tourism season begins. Earlier came out to the public several scandals of foreign singers coming to Lebanon after a long history of relations with "Israel". Apparently this summer, too, we're encountering such a breach: On the 9th of July the French singer (of a Tunisian origin) Julie Zenati arrives in Beirut to participate in a two-day song festival in Biel (9th and 10th of July), whereby Zenati is a member of the band "Notre Dame de Paris". 

Noticeably, Zenati is a chanteuse singing the praises of "Israel": Marking the 60th "anniversary" of the establishment of the Zionist entity, the "Israeli" Embassy in France invited her to sing on the coast of Trocadero in 2008. Displayed behind the chanteuse were pictures of the leaders of the Zionist movement as Isaac Rabin and Golda Maier.
Also, marking the party was the French chanteuse Laura Fabien, who stirred up an argument when her participation in a similar party in Beirut was announced a short period earlier.
Filled with indignation, the Lebanese people and the committees on boycotting "Israel" eventually preceded Fabian's coming to Beirut, whereby they launched a huge media and political campaign, making her change her mind. 

For her part, Zenati sang several poems in the party aforementioned, the most significant of which was the poem of the "Israeli" poet "Naomi Shimmer", "Jerusalem is Golden". The poem was written only three weeks before war in 1967, and it was sung by an unknown "Israeli" man; however, it became well-known later as it eulogized the occupation of East al-Quds (East Jerusalem).
The song has become quite popular in "Israel" ever since, and a big number of Zionists have requested that it become the "Israeli" national anthem instead of the current one. 

Thereupon, having sung in Hebrew in an "Israeli" official celebration to commemorate the establishment of the Zionist entity, Zenati makes her trip to Lebanon sound rather absurd! 

Head of the campaign "Boycott the Supporters of "Israel"", Dr. Samah Idriss, revealed as well to al-Intiqad his campaign has preceded Zenati's arrival in Lebanon by asking the French band to exclude the "Israeli" chanteuse, also by stressing that none singing for "Israel" and praising al-Quds's occupation to the skies can come to Beirut, not even when he/she is a member of a musical band, but rather such a person would be confronted with a huge boycott campaign. 

Donna Shalala Honored at AUB

Furthermore, AUB has recently held an honorary celebration for several figures and granted them honorary doctoral degrees. Among those figures were writer Wedad al-Qadi and the Palestinian businessman Munib el-Masri, in addition to the Lebanese-American Donna Shalala who's known for her enthusiasm in support of "Israel" and her daring opposition for the escalating academic campaigns against the "Israeli" universities involved with the occupation. 

A Lebanese descendant, the seventy-year-old Shalala was born in the United States of America. Shalala is currently chairwoman of "Miami University" in Florida, US. Earlier, she received an honorary doctoral degree from "Ben Gurion University of the Negev" (BGU) in "Tel Aviv". 

The seventy-year-old lady, who has a record full of visits to "Israel", made her first touristic visit to "Tel Aviv" in 1960. "The greatest possible number of non-Jews getting to know the "Israelis" and their dreams" is her famous call. She is the primary oppositionist of the boycott of education in "Israel".
A guest of the AIPAC ("The American "Israel" Public Affairs Committee"), Shalala made one of her visits to "Israel" in 2010 for the sake of further cooperation between the universities of "Israel" and the US. 

She and the escorting delegation then met former "Israeli" Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon, in addition to former President Shimon Perez, the slayer of "the First Qana Massacre" perpetrated in "the July Aggression" (which "Israel" calls "Operation Grapes of Wrath") against southern Lebanon in 1996.

The "Israeli" security in reality insulted Shalala during that visit as the security made her stop for two hours and a half in "Ben Gurion Airport". Shalala was interrogated and was addressed with discriminatory and humiliating questions since her family name confirmed her Arab origins. Shalala, however, did not make the least stance convicting the "Israeli" racism; she continued to be a blind supporter of "Israel". 

AUB Students: AUB Covered Up Shalala's Honoring 

"The American University of Beirut" (AUB) covered up Shalala's honoring in an odd manner, some AUB students explained to "al-Intiqad": AUB did not abide by the custom followed in the years before as to announcing the honorarium and the names of the honored figures. The students wondered what exactly had happened and what the criteria for electing the honored figures were.

At night on Saturday, July 16, AUB administration officially announced via e-mail the names of the figures to be honored this year. This was only five days before the honorary ceremony, which in fact contradicted the customs followed. Earlier, AUB administration had promised to act in accordance with the Lebanese laws, the students reported to "al-Intiqad." 

The law of boycotting "Israel", issued on 23 June 1955, stated:
-No person or figure is allowed to make an agreement - whether direct or indirect - with committees or individuals present in "Israel" or working for its sake. Forbidden are agreements of all types: trade bargains, monetary processes, or any kind of deal.

-No "Israeli" goods, products, or items of any kind are allowed into Lebanon for trade or exchange...Any goods or items of any kind made in "Israel" - whether totally or partially - are considered "Israeli". Included as well are any items or products reshipped from "Israel" or made outside it so as to be later imported for the sake of "Israel" or any of the committees or individuals aforementioned. 

The fact that AUB administration announced Shalala's honoring only five days earlier revealed it was cover up intended to evade any opposition, especially when most of the students and instructors did not attend classes in summer, the students added.

Last year, the students cooperated with AUB instructors to prevent the honoring of former Chairman of "World Bank" James Wolfensohn, winner of "the "Israeli" Truman Award" and main partner of an "Israeli" firm supporting services for the settlers in the West Bank, recalled the students.
In reality, four AUB graduates were martyred while confronting the Zionist enemy between 1988 and the end of "the July War" (which "Israel" calls "the Second Lebanon War") in August 2006. This made the students express they were proud before noting they had stirred up the issue of Shalala's honoring among AUB students and staff, also that they had communicated their message through social networks, creating an opposition movement.
Unfortunately, the movement did not parallel that of last year, since AUB's decision had surprised them and prevented them from preparing for greater moves, added the students, who eventually criticized AUB administration for allowing itself to honor pro-Zionists like Shalala and even making her do the ceremonial speech, especially when "Israel" was (as it'll always be) Lebanon's enemy and Palestine's ravisher.

Another individual AUB honored was Munib el-Masri, a former Jordanian minister, who had received "Israeli" officers at home, as exposed by a film "You Tube" displayed, the students now remarked, adding they hadn't found enough time to probe the reality of el-Marsi's act; the film had been displayed only a night before the honorary celebration. 

The students referred the problem of not having foiled the honorary celebration to the late announcement of the individuals to be honored. That revealed AUB's weakness and plots since AUB was "ashamed of them"; normally any side organizing honorary celebrations felt proud rather than having anything to be ashamed of, commented the students. Asked whether they could have prevented the celebration from occurring, the students declared such celebrations were usually held at AUB chairman's house, whereby the attendees would be only the ones receiving special invitations. Therefore, the students could not counteract, they expressed. 

What was Shalala's accomplishment making AUB honor her? What distinguished achievement did she make to Lebanon? On what grounds was this done? And was it enough for Shalala to hold the Lebanese nationality? The students as well questioned, adding, "Supposing Munib el-Masri deserved being honored for his participations in his research center, which had been funded by foreign sides conferring the powers of replaceable energy in the Middle East, we still do not understand what criteria made AUB honor Shalala and grant her an honorary doctoral degree!"

Finally, the students said they had to learn from this incident and be quite careful as to dealing with potential similar incidents. Efforts must be made on the level of students, politics, and media to prohibit the administration from freely failing to appreciate values and from breaking the Lebanese laws.
For its part, the Lebanese campaign "Boycott the Supporters of "Isarel"" slammed AUB's honoring of the US secretary Donna Shalala in the graduation ceremony AUB held last week. Head of the campaign, Samah Idriss, revealed that Shalala, efficiently realizing the Zionist occupation and settlement in Palestine, had earlier been honored by several Zionist universities. Idriss pointed out that Shalala's nastiest commitment was her strict opposition for the academic boycott of "Israel": While global campaigns were calling for the boycott of the "Israeli" universities, Shalala was promoting the scheme of linking the US universities to them. 

The "Israeli" universities constitute a fundamental part of the Zionist entity as they publish books and researches, promoting the so-called ""Israeli" democracy", declared Idriss. The universities are a fundamental source for the Zionist enemy's plots; for example, the Separation Wall the Zionist occupation constructed in the West Bank was originally the idea of the geologists of "Haifa University" and was constructed by architecture engineers of "Israeli" universities, Idriss added.

Doctors graduating from the "Israeli" universities are not only involved in the torture of the Palestinian captives in the "Israeli" prisons, but also they direct that. Confirming this was the quote by former Director of "the "Israeli" Medical Association": "There is no problem in breaking some of the detainees' fingers if this is required to make them speak." This makes universities a fundamental part of the "Israeli" occupation and racism. Hereupon, anyone calling for reinforcing "Israeli" universities, like Donna Shalala is doing, is actually helping the occupation survive; such ones must be fought, Idriss informed "al-Intiqad". 

More on Shalala's malice, Idriss said, "Shalala was the US Secretary of Health and Human Services during the former presidency of Bill Clinton. Then, the US administration besieged the Iraqi people in an unprecedented manner in the 20th century; the besiegement lasted from 1993 until 2003, victimizing 1,500,000 Iraqis, most of who were children deprived of milk, nourishment, and medicine. Though Shalala was not secretary of state then, she was a member of the US government, and this means she was responsible for the government's policies. All of these reasons make AUB terribly sinful after Shalala's honoring."

As to the means of confronting such Zionist breaches of the Lebanese community, Idriss said, "The acts the campaign "Boycott the Supporters of "Israel"" is doing are quite important; the campaign is raising the awareness of students and the public opinion and attracting their attention towards these breaches so that they move and issue statements through media. Media, in turn, has a greater role to perform; for instance, protest rallies must be conducted, and the General Security Forces must be informed of the offenses made against the boycott law issued in 1955 and prohibiting promotion for "Israel"."

The Office for Boycotting "Israel" was established in accordance with decree 12562/1963 and is directed by the minister of economy. Among the assignments of this office are: collecting necessary information, making studies, proposing essential procedures, executing the recommendations made by valid references, and providing regular communication with "the Head Office for Boycotting "Israel"" and with the regional offices of the Arab states. This decree as well recognizes it is necessary that all decisions be signed by the Ministerial Council, whether they are related to listing or crossing the names of individuals or institutions, with whom/which collaboration is restricted.

Certainly, all of this must be accompanied by the role of the Lebanese Parliament, which can't be exempted from performing its role while some committees are making efforts as to boycotting "Israel". Therefore, the MPs must act and present interrogations regarding the breeches some firms have made against the boycott law. The MPs must as well develop the same law, which was issued 60 decades ago, so that it meets with the current developments. That is, essentially amending this law shall foil all "Israeli" attempts to creep into the Lebanese community after "Israel" had originally been expelled from the South. In addition, "the Boycott Office" corresponding to the Lebanese Ministry of Economy must perfectly fulfill its role in coordination with the General Security Forces to prevent such singers from sneaking into Lebanon, especially when this office is the only official side in charge of tackling this issue and conducting studies on it. The office is also the only side responsible for periodic renewal of the list of individuals or institutions with whom/which collaboration is restricted. The office must make the public opinion recognize these individuals and sides.
