Jalili: UN Observers Must Prevent Weapons, Terrorists’ Flow into Syria

Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), Saeed Jalili, denounced the arms smuggling to Syrian rebels, stressing that the Syrian crisis can only be solved through democratic means.
During his meeting with US-Arab Special Envoy to Syria, Kofi Annan, in Tehran on Tuesday, the top Iranian official excluded any foreign intervention in solving the Syrian crisis, believing it would only be worked out by the Syrian nation and government through dialogue.
"The record of certain countries, such as the United States, in supporting dictators and undemocratic moves shows these states cannot be part of the solution to Syria [crisis]," Jalili asserted on this level.
Moreover, Secretary of Iran's SNSC urged the international UN observers and investigators to prevent, in any means, the flow of weapons and armed terrorists from entering the violence-worn Syria.
For his part, Annan informed Jalili with the results of the recent conference on Syria held in Geneva, Switzerland, stressing Iran's important role in solving the Syrian crisis.
