Those who participated in the "Women and the Islamic Awakening" conference in Tehran on 10 and 11 July, will notice the massive crowd participation from all over the Islamic world. Renowned Islamic activists from non-Islamic countries such as North and South America, Europe, Russia and China, in addition to Africa also took part in the international conference.

The conference organizers said that the number of participants reached about 1,300 women.

We got acquainted to all participants from their different languages, through which they expressed their ideas and slogans in the main conference hall, under the one title of "Women and the Islamic Awakening".
All speeches in the opening ceremony focused on the fundamental role of women in the success of any renaissance. Most notably was the stance of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who stated, "If women decide to strengthen their will in societies, it is impossible not to cause evolution, we have seen this in Iran and here we are witnessing it today in the world."
The two-day conference was enough for all the participant to know that it had achieved its strategic objectives, in spite of some criticism against gaps that might exist in any large gathering; i.e. delay in launching workshops and so on. However; most of the participants were very content regarding the success of Iran, and the achievements and developments that the Islamic Republic has accomplished with the participation of women in spite of the international blockade.

Participants delivered speeches on behalf of their countries to emphasize unity and building an Islamic future. In an interview with moqawama.org, member of the Parliamentary Assembly of Tunisia, Rehab Bo Jomoa, assured that "the achievements of Iranian women in the global awakening, is that they were the model adopted by women in Tunisia, Egypt and other countries that absorbed the concept of awakening, which is still ongoing in other countries to achieve the same goal."

There were six committees in the conference, and they were dedicated to discuss the many braches of the main topic of the conference.
Attendees of these committees insisted on talking about their experiences in their countries and the injustice that affects Muslims in those countries, especially those women who have suffered because of Hijab. "For instance, some of them entered prison because of the Hijab", stated Huda Kaya of Turkey to Mogawama .org. "I was imprisoned with my daughter "Noor Jehan" because we refused to take off our Hijab during the secular rule."
Another committee held banners for Palestine's Gaza, with presentations on the vicious "Israeli" detention of Palestinian women, and the latter's suffering in their detention centers. Hana Shalabi, a freed Palestinian prisoner took part in the conference, and called upon His Eminence Sayyed Ali Khamenei stated, "O Eminence Leader Khamenei, do not leave us, we are in desperate need for your support."

Also, other participants from countries of the "Arab Spring" were present at the conference; from Egypt, Tunisia, Yemen, Libya, and spoke with high enthusiasm.
These participants expressed high excitement and joy, and thanked God that they had been granted freedom; believing that this particular participation in the Iranian conference is a proof of freedom.

Visiting Leader Ayatollah Khamenei

On the second day of the conference, we were informed that Leader Ayatollah Khamenei is waiting for our visit at his home. The joy spread in the hearts of participants and especially those who are visiting Iran for the first time. We arrived to the reception hall and moments after the leader appeared, the tears of the women attendees flooded to meet him with a lot of [Salawat] [praising the Prophet Mohammad and his household].

Delegations from the different participating countries delivered speeches to express each country's concerns and joy. Freed prisoner Hana Al-Shalabi spoke on hehalf of Palestine, followed by a speech from Iraq, Bahrain, Libya, Egypt, and Tunisia. They all emphasized the unity of the Islamic rhetoric and called on Leader Khamenei to put an end to the killing of children and women in Syria, as it only triggers incitement among Muslims.
From Azerbaijan there was a mother who suffered for her son a lot from the authorities and was patient in the face of harming Islam. From Lebanon, the daughter of martyr Leader Sayyed Abbas Moussawi, who expressed the abidance to her father's path and belief under the guidance of Imam Khamenei.
The Supreme Leader held the audience with his words, in which he focused on the essential role of women and what they can offer to the society.
His Eminence addressed all women, advising them to be ready in the face of challenges, because the enemies of Islam and the West have worked in the past and are still trying to intervene in the affairs of their countries.

The establishment of a global organization

The Islamic Republic of Iran sought to have this global event as a message to the "globalization" project of the United States and Europe; a message that Islam will remain, and it is the solution and radical principle of all the nations of the region.
The said notion was seconded by Egyptian activist, Marwa Mohammad, who told moqawama.org, "We are very pleased with the work done by Iran to hold this conference, and we stress that no matter how hard the enemies of Islam tried to intervene on the nations of the region to change their compass, these nations will never accept but to have Islam as its religion."

Alone was the Islamic Republic in naming the Arab revolutions as "Islamic Awakening"; the principle that states that all the nations of the region are instinctively Muslim. This conviction asserted by Leader Khamenei and all senior Iranian officials, who later focused on the notion of Islamic Awakening in the many conferences held in the Islamic Republic.
In an interview with moqawama.org, the Secretary-General of the Conference on Women and the Islamic awakening, Dr. Ali Akbar Welayati, stated that "the conference met its objects on the political and social levels. We have gathered the elite women because we know they have great influence in their countries from the political point on one hand, and we've enabled the opportunity for communication among Muslim women from all over the world so that they exchange their experiences and support each other on another hand."
"We further express solidarity among Muslims in the world because we believe that women are the base of any constant communication," Welayati added.
In response to our question about future expectations for the outcome of the conference, Welayati indicated, "We are working to replicate this kind of conference, and we will set up a women's organization that is to emerge from this conference to follow up what we have set of recommendations."

"In addition, all what has been provided by the sister participants of ideas and activists will be developed, and an action strategy plan will be organized to apply them as part of the new organization," the Iranian official further noted.
He further praised all those who will be members of the said organization, stressing their anticipated difference, as they are all concerned of the political, cultural, and social arenas.
