Iranian Intelligence Minister Heidar Moslehi said that the Islamic Republic has arrested the perpetrators behind the assassination of Iranian scholar Dariush Rezaeinejad. He stated that more than 30 people have been arrested in connection with Rezaeinejad's assassination.
"After reconstructing the assassination scene we are certain that the detainees have been involved in the assassination and carried out their measure with the support of the CIA and Mossad," Moslehi said on Sunday.
Rezaeinejad was assassinated by unidentified gunmen outside his house in Tehran on July 23, 2011.
Moslehi said despite the complication of Rezaeinejad's assassination compared with other cases and although perpetrators were trying to mislead the country's intelligence apparatus, the elements behind the attack were arrested.
On June 14, Iran's Intelligence Ministry announced the capture of the main elements behind the murder of the Iranian nuclear experts, announcing "The key perpetrators of the assassinations of Majid Shahriari, Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan (two of the slain nuclear scientists), and Reza Qashqaei (the driver) were identified and, in a series of swift and authoritative operations, arrested and transferred to detention facilities."
