In a surprising visit to Iran, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem stressed that "the rebels in Aleppo will undoubtedly be defeated."

During a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Ali Akbar Salehi, Moallem confirmed that "all anti-Syrian forces gathered in Aleppo to fight against the government will undoubtedly be defeated by the Syrian armed forces."
"The Syrian people are fighting alongside the army against the rebels," he added.
Moreover, Moallem accused "Qatar , Saudi Arabia, Turkey and other countries in the region of encouraging the clashes by supporting the rebels and supplying them with weapons."

"Syria is the target of a global conspiracy whose agents are the countries in the region," he added and pointed out that "our people are determined to defeat the conspiracy."

The Syrian top official further highlighted that "Syria has a significant military capacity and can defend itself."
"Fighters had entered Syria from Turkey and Iraq. The terrorists who come into Syria from Turkey are Libyan, Tunisian and Egyptian nationals and those who entered Syria from Iraq and were arrested are members of al-Qaeda," he said.
Moallem also asked the Lebanese government to prevent "terrorists from entering into Syria from its territory". He also stated that "the views of Iran and Syria on the situation in Syria are fully compliant ".

For his part, Ali Akbar Salehi said he was certain that "the Syrian people will win against the rebels and countries that support them."
"We are witnessing a brutal plot led by several countries at the top of which is the Zionist regime," said Ali Akbar Salehi.
"We call upon the people of the region to be fully aware and not to move in the wrong direction because there will be severe consequences that will go beyond the borders of the region to the outside world," the Iranian minister said.
