Saudi Arabian protesters took to the streets in mass protests in the cities of Riyadh, al-Baridah, Jeddah, and Qatif, to call against the Al Saudi regime, and demand the immediate release of political prisoners; on top of which is Sheikh Nemr Baqer el-Nemr.

Regime forces attacked the separate protests with live ammunition and tear gas, injuring 18 protesters, and detaining 8 others.

For his part, Sheikh Tayseer al-Nemr, Sheikh Nemr al-Nemr's brother, demanded the release of detainees of "freedom of expression", whatever their sects or political affiliations were. He further demanded the release of Shiite and Sunni detainees, who are imprisoned without any charge or crime; especially the intellectuals and scholars, whose women are also in the regime custody.

Moreover, Sheikh Tayseer al-Nemr denounced the blatant propaganda by media outlets, exploited by the regime to sow sectarian discord.
