A number of "terrorists" have been killed during fresh clashes between government forces and insurgent groups across Syria, Syrian military reported.
In the northern city of Aleppo, the Syrian army said its forces deterred an attack by insurgents against the city's radio and television station and killed many of them in the Izaa district.
"Mercenary terrorist groups attacked civilians and the state TV building (in Aleppo), while the army defended it," state news agency SANA said.
Insurgents also suffered heavy casualties in clashes in Khan al-Asal district in the western part of the city.
The army, chasing insurgents and mercenaries out of Aleppo, is preparing for a major offensive to clear all armed gangs from the city.
Government troops killed many insurgents in another operation in the al-Arbaeen district of the western city of Hama.
According to reports, a number of armed men lost their lives or sustained injuries during clashes with army forces in the cities of Homs and Dair al-Zawr.
The Syrian capital Damascus is now calm, despite sporadic clashes in its suburbs.
