US Senator Joe Lieberman, like his US administration, has launched incessant calls for supporting the Syrian terrorist rebels, who have killed and injured hundreds of innocent civilians in their rebel against the Syrian government.

Lieberman definitely does not want to see "American troops on Syria's ground, but he would certainly give arms to the Syrian rebels, he would for sure keep it an option to have US war planes fly in the Syrian Skies, and most undoubtedly he will resort to the help of what he called "Our Arab Allies", as he believes they are ready to join the US in this battle.
Sen. Lieberman: US Should Provide Syrian Rebels with Weapons, Airpower An Option In an interview with CBS's "This Morning" on Tuesday, Lieberman said that the United States should provide Syrian rebels with weapons.
"I'd like to see us take a side clearly," Lieberman said "I don't think it's enough ... for us to say Assad should go,... We have a moral responsibility and a strategic opportunity to do more than what we're doing there," he said. "So what would I do," he continued, "I'd embrace the cause of the opposition to Assad; I'd begin to work with them closely. I'd give them weapons - that's the key. And I'd help them set safe zones from which they can act".
Several reports emerged highlighting the US support to the terrorists. Reuters reported in July that the White House has crafted a presidential directive, called a "finding," that would authorize greater covert assistance for the rebels.
As for US Senators, Lieberman is not the only one. Earlier in May, in a press conference in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur, Senator John McCain stated "It is time to act. It is time to give the Syrian opposition the weapons in order to defend themselves," while Lieberman stated that the situation in Syria "will not get better until the rest of the world at least gives the arms" to the Syrian rebels.

Lieberman, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, argues that while the United States should support rebels fighting Assad, American soldiers should stay off the ground. "I certainly do not want to see American troops on the ground but I would leave open the option of selected use of our airpower along with our Arab allies, who are prepared to join us I believe," he said.
