Cameron: UK to Step Up Support for Syrian Rebels, Assad Must Go

British Prime Minister David Cameron has said that he wants to make sure Syrian President Bashar al-Assad goes after Britain announced it would step up support for Syrian insurgents.
In an interview with Channel 5, Cameron said "we need to make sure Assad goes" as he admitted that British officials "are working very closely" with armed insurgents in Syria as they are "getting to know them better".
On Friday, the Daily Telegraph reported that British Foreign Secretary William Hague has stated Britain would step up its support for Syria's armed insurgents, providing them with an additional £5 million.
Hague claimed that Britain's support for the armed insurgents in Syria would take the form of "non-lethal support" saying it would remain British policy not to send arms. He stated that the aid would include communications equipment, body armor, radio and satellite equipment, portable power generators and field medical equipment.
"We will provide urgent training and equipment to Syrian human rights activists, including cameras, video recorders and forensic equipment," he added.
Meanwhile several media reports published by a scope of media outlets such as the British Daily Mail and the "Israeli" military intelligence website DEBKAfile have told of the scale of Britain's interference in Syria from the role of its former Special Air Service (SAS) soldiers in training the leaders of armed terror groups in Syria to the centers of operation established by British forces in the Syrian city of Homs.
