Al-Assad: Syria To Defeat Foreign Conspiracy, Continue Resistance Strategy

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad stressed Sunday that "Syria would defeat the foreign plot being waged against the country."
"The Syrian people will not allow this conspiracy to achieve its objectives" and will defeat it at any price, al-Assad said.
During a meeting with the visiting head of the Iranian parliament's national security and foreign policy commission, Aladin Borujerdi, in Damascus, he highlighted that "what is happening now is not only directed at Syria but the whole region. Because Syria is the cornerstone, foreign powers are targeting it so their conspiracy succeeds across the entire region."
Al-Assad has long described the country's crisis as a fight against foreign "terrorists" aided by the West and certain regional countries, including Saudi Arabia.
"Whatever close cooperation that western countries and some regional states develop to persuade Syria to step back from its stances, Damascus will continue its resistance strategy and defend the legal rights of nations,” he pointed out.
The Syrian president also emphasized that his country will not change its principal and stances and that the plots of western countries and their allies will fail.
For his part, Boroujerdi confirmed that "Syria’s security is Iran's security and that the two countries have common interests."
He further emphasized "Iran's constant support of the Syrian government and nation at all levels," and noted that "his country will continue helping Damascus with any plan that can get Syria out of the current crisis."
