Al-Assad: Situation Improving, We’re Facing Global War

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad gave a special interview to Syrian television Tuesday , in which he stressed that the situation his country is improving. The full interview with al-Assad will be broadcast on Wednesday but excerpts were made public on Tuesday evening.

The Syrian said that "it will take some time until the military campaign in the country is completed."
He further added that the regime is making progress and the improvement can already be felt.
"We are in the midst of a global and regional war," said Assad, "so it is no wonder that it takes a long time to finish it."
He added, "This entire explanation can be summarized by saying that we are making progress. The situation is actually better, but we have yet to resolve it. That takes time."
The last time President Bashar al-Assad appeared in public was when Syria's state-run TV aired footage of the President performing Eid al-Fitr prayers in at al-Hamad Mosque in Mohajirin Quarter in Damascus.
Press reports indicated that it was al-Assad's first appearance in public after a bombing in the Syrian capital last month that killed the defense minister and three other top security officials.
