Suspected "Israeli" extremists scrawled graffiti on a mosque in the southern West Bank in an apparent "price tag" hate crime, an AFP correspondent and a Palestinian official said on Wednesday.
Gamal Abu Iram, an official in al-Khalil Hebron's ministry of religious affairs, told Ma'an news agency that 'Price tag Migron' in Hebrew was sprayed by settlers on the mosque in Dura.

"Price tag" is a euphemism for revenge hate crimes by "Israeli" extremists, normally targeting Palestinians and Arabs and tending to involve the torching and vandalism of cars, mosques and olive trees.
"Migron" is the name of what was the largest West Bank settlement outpost, which was evacuated earlier this month.

Eyewitnesses said the assailants also tried to burn a car, but the vehicle's owner awoke and shouted at them, causing them to flee.
"The settlers tried to burn the mosque and several cars around the mosque. This attack is one of several that settlers have committed against Palestinians and their religious places," PA Minister of Religious Affairs Mahmoud al-Habbash told Ma'an.
The attack reportedly happened on Tuesday but was only reported to "Israeli" authorities on Wednesday.

In August, PA official Ghassan Daghlas warned Palestinians to be cautious of settler attacks ahead of the planned evacuation of the illegal "Israeli" outpost "Migron", near Ramallah.
Last week, settlers torched the wooden door of a monastery near al-Quds and pro-settler graffiti daubed in Hebrew was discovered on the building's stone walls.
In February, suspected Jewish extremists wrote "Death to Christianity" on two churches.

The graffiti also included profanity about Jesus, and the vandals slashed the tires of several cars parked in one of the church compounds.
An ancient mosque in al-Quds was also torched on December 13.
It is worth mentioning that settlers are rarely prosecuted by "Israeli" authorities for attacks against Palestinians, which take place frequently in the West Bank.
"Israel" continues to expand illegal settlements in the West Bank while maintaining a military occupation.
