Imam Khamenei Grants Amnesty, Commutes Inmates Sentences
Local Editor
On the auspicious occasion of birthday of Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him
and His Houshold), Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei granted amnesty or commuted prison terms of 1,298 inmates.
The Leader's decision came in response to a letter from Iran's Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani asking for clemency and reduction of the prisoners jail terms. Larijani made the proposal after a special commission monitoring behavior of the inmates at prisons endorsed they are qualified for the amnesty.
