Family and colleagues of Woolwich victim the British soldier Drummer Lee Rigby rejected extremist groups using his murder as an excuse to commit violence and make political gains.

The condemnation was described as a blow to groups planning to hold a series of marches across the UK on Sunday.

The "English Defense League" and the "British National Party" have both planned nearly 60 different demonstrations across Britain and anti-fascists have vowed to oppose them.

However, Rigby's relatives urged mourners to show respect in a "peaceful manner" amid increased tensions between political and religious groups.

In a statement, family members said, "We would like to emphasize that Lee would not want people to use his name as an excuse to carry out attacks against others."

"We would not wish any other families to go through this harrowing experience and appeal to everyone to keep calm and show their respect in a peaceful manner," they added.

Moreover, local community representatives and faith leaders laid flowers near the scene of Lee Rigby's murder, including Muslim clerics.

On a similar note, one of Rigby's suspected killers Michael Adebolajo was discharged from hospital after recovering from a police shot.

Michael Adebowale, 22, has already been charged with murdering the young soldier and is due to appear at the Old Bailey on Monday, The Independent UK mentioned.

On May 23, the British soldier Drummer Lee Rigby was murdered by two suspected extremists who attempted to behead and disembowel him as he left a barracks in Woolwich, London.

The soldier was ambushed by the men as he left the base in Woolwich, south-east London, who attacked him and then dragged his body into the middle of the road to pose for photographs while standing over him waving a cleaver and a gun.
