Lavrov: Syria Opposition Responsible for Delay of Geneva TalksUS Television Station, CBS, quoted Lavrov as saying that "the American officials recognize that the Syrian coalition, on which some foreign sponsors were spending big amounts of money, is not ready not even to negotiate, but to decide who will represent it."

In response to a question whether it is the opposition who are responsible for delay in holding the international conference on Syria, Lavrov said "yes".
"The opposition is responsible for this delay and this is very unfortunate because there are groups which are adopting constructive stances, including those who never left Syria and spent all these years together with the Syrian people," he clarified.

On the relation with the United states, the head of Moscow's diplomacy stressed: "Well, I don't see any challenges which are not insurmountable. I believe that after some pause and some irritators, which appeared rather officially in our relationship some time ago, both presidents are keen to move forward."

Earlier, Lavrov and his Argentinean counterpart, Hector Timerman, expressed rejection of supplying weapons to the illicit armed groups in Syria.
The two sides warned against using these weapons against the Syrian people and army.

They also renewed rejection of militarizing the crisis in Syria.
