Special Envoy of the Russian President to the Middle East and Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov, stated that Russia traditionally provides support to the Syrian legitimate government in order to increase the defense capabilities of the Syrian state.
Russia Today website quoted Bogdanov as saying to reporters upon arrival in Geneva on Monday, "This is the Russian's firm and transparent policy."
Bogdanov further remarked that nothing new is happening in the military cooperation between Russia and Syria, but the contracts signed earlier will be fulfilled.
"There were contracts signed earlier with Syria and some had not yet been fully implemented," Bogdanov said, affirming that "this process is conducted in the framework of our international obligations and responds with the International law."
Bogdanov will participate in the second preparatory meeting for the International conference on Syria in Geneva on Tuesday.
The meeting includes representatives of Russia, the United States and the United Nations.
