Hizbullah lashed out at UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon after a recent report by him expressed concern over Hizbullah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah's threats of open war against "Israel".
In a statement, Hizbullah urged Ban to "show more objectivity and impartiality" when speaking about the region.
The statement said that, in his latest report on the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, Ban failed to provide the "proper context" to the threats, which came following the assassination last month of Hizbullah security official Imad Moghnieh.
Moghnieh was killed in a car bomb in Syria, and Hizbullah has the blamed the assassination on "Israel".
"Israel" has denied any involvement in the February 12 death of Moghnieh, who was on the US most wanted list for a string of anti-Western and anti-"Israeli" attacks.
"We are keen on avoiding any destabilization in the region and share the Secretary General's concern on the climate of instability in the region," the Hizbullah statement said.
It added, however, that the United Nations must not "adopt the point of view of one party" when commenting about international resolutions.
Hizbullah's threats against "Israel" have increased tensions in Lebanon, already mired in its worst political crisis since the end of the 1975-1990 civil war.
It also raised fears of a renewed conflict with "Israel" following the devastating 34-day war in Lebanon in 2006.
