Cameron: UK to Keep Backing Syria Militants until Assad Gone

Cameron was speaking Wednesday at Prime Minister's Questions in the House of Commons where he declared that the so-called "moderate" militants would continue to be trained until Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was deposed.

The UK leader told MPs: "In Syria, the situation is far, far worse, but we should still continue, with others, with the plan of training and trying to bring about a transition, so we get rid of the Assad regime and Assad himself..."

"That is the strategy we should pursue, for however long it takes to succeed" he continued. Though, apart from supporting the militants, the United Kingdom is also part of a US-led coalition that had been engaged in airstrikes purportedly against the "ISIL" Takfiris in Syria and neighboring Iraq.

Furthermore, Turkey signed an agreement with the US in February to train and equip what they called the "moderate" militants.

Consequently, the crisis in Syria had killed more than 220,000 people, including an excess of 10,000 children, according to the UN.
