The burning of the al-Aqsa Mosque was no ordinary crime in history, the incident was a chilling crime...one that remained in the living memory of nations who held fast to their dignity and honor.

On the 46th anniversary of the burning of the al-Aqsa Mosque, a commemoration titled "al-Quds rises up, Palestine gains victory" was held at the National Museum of Damascus, in solidarity with occupied al-Quds and its holy sites, which are weighed down under the burden of the barbaric occupation and its racism. The anniversary was an occasion to declare adherence to Palestine, the major Islamic cause, and adherence to the path of resistance, the only way to defeat the aggressors and occupiers, of Zionists and their supporters.

In an exclusive interview with al-Ahed News website, the political and media adviser of the President of the Syrian Republic, Bouthaina Shaaban confirmed that we must look back over every Zionist practice against the Palestinian people, and take real and effective stances in the regional and international arenas, arguing that this stance is itself a stand against all the attempts of fragmentation being faced by our region.

Shaaban added that whoever stands with the Palestinian people also stands with the Iraqi, Syrian, and Yemeni people, and whoever stands with al-Quds [Jerusalem], stands up for himself, and concluded by saying: "We are all under threat, the plot is one, the map is one, and attempts to carry out the plot targeting all Arabs are one as well."

Shibani: those who defend Syria defend Palestine

In turn, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus, Mohammad Reza Shibani pointed out that the event was held in order to tell the world that al-Quds will not be forgotten, stressing that resistance is the only way to confront all Zionist plans.
In an interview with al-Ahed, Shibani said: We are currently witnessing a fierce attack against Syria, an attack that began against the Palestinians, stressing that Damascus is the main element and cornerstone of the axis of resistance, and defending Syria today is in effect a defense of Palestine, and whoever fights against Syria, in fact fights against Palestine.

Naji: We are steadfast in the axis of resistance

For his part, the deputy Secretary General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - General Command, Talal Naji, emphasized that the Palestinian people are steadfast and continue in their struggle, alongside the masses of the Arab nation, expressing his belief that Palestine is the central cause, and what the Arab nation is being subjected to today [of plots] are one and the same.

In an interview with al-Ahed, Naji said that the suffering of the Syrian people in Syria is due to its support for the Palestinian cause and its refusal to surrender, and this also applies to the suffering of the brotherly Lebanese people, especially Hizbullah, as well as what the Islamic Republic of Iran is being subjected to.

He concluded by saying: we in the axis of resistance are steadfast, after five years since the beginning of the great conspiracy against Syria, and after the passage of one century on the question of Palestine, we will continue to struggle, until we achieve victory, God willing.
