France Warns of Possible Chemical, Biological Attack

French PM Manuel Valls warned Thursday of the danger of an attack in France using "chemical or biological weapons," in a speech to lawmakers debating the extension of the state of emergency.
"We must not rule anything out," Valls said. "There is also the risk from chemical or biological weapons," he added.
The French official further stated: "More than ever, it's time for Europe to adopt the text... to guarantee the traceability of movements, including within the union. It's a condition of our collective security."
As the investigation spreads across Europe into the attacks adopted by "ISIS", he also called on the European Union to urgently adopt measures to share airline passenger information as a way of protecting collective security.
Meanwhile, police in France are going to be allowed to carry weapons when they are off duty, according to a police order issued Thursday.
They will be allowed to use their guns in the event of a terror attack providing they wear a police armband to avoid "any confusion."
In a related context, French police carried out a pre-dawn raid on Wednesday at an apartment block in Saint-Denis where the suspected ringleader of the terror cell, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, was thought to be hiding.
Eight people were arrested in the raid, but the Paris prosecutor said those taken alive did not include either Abaaoud or the wanted "eighth attacker" from Friday's shootings, Salah Abdeslam.
In this context, Valls said it remains unclear whether the suspected organizer of the attacks was killed in the raid or he is still alive.
