Somali Terrorists Publicly Execute Two Officials

Somali residents reported Thursday that the extremist militant "al-Shabaab" group publicly executed a local military officer and the leader of a small town in the southern Somali region of Lower Shabelle.
The group, seeking to overthrow the government and impose its strict law, remained a potent threat in the African country after it was forced from the capital Mogadishu in 2011.
Two months earlier, the militant group took over the town of Bariirey, south of the capital Mogadishu.
Referring to the crime, the "al-Shabaab" Spokesman Abdiasis Abu Musab claimed that: "We executed them according to the "sharia"."
However, he did not say what crimes the two committed, but the terrorist group banned many aspects of modern life and ordered executions, floggings and amputations.
For its part, the Somali police confirmed the killings.
Relatively, an African Union peacekeeping force working with Somalia's military made significant gains against the group, but the militants still control swathes of Lower Shabelle, though it was pushed out of strategic port towns.
Somalia, which descended into chaos since 1991, is trying to rebuild after two decades of conflict and chaos.
