Hajj Hussein Al-Khalil, political assistant to Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, stripped Prime Minister Fouad Saniora of agency in national decision-making. "Saniora does not own his decisions, and is afraid of reaching a solution which could shift him from his position," Khalil said. He also said that this was not the first time the ruling team obstructed a solution to the Lebanese political stalemate under foreign orders.
Hajj Khalil said the Arab atmosphere was inconducive to the creation of a solution to the problems in Lebanon.
Khalil described Speaker Nabih Berri as "the Sheikh of the opposition and the Lebanese" in his call for dialogue.
In a talk with the Hizbullah-backed Al-Manar, Khalil said the disappearance of the main witness in the Hariri probe Muhammad Zuhair Al-Saddiq was "the first international stab in the International Tribunal and a major step towards its politicization."
