Tunisian Government Spokesperson to al-Ahed: We have nothing to do With Labeling Hizbullah as Terrorist

Local Editor
The issue of Arab Foreign Ministers' classifying Hizbullah as a terrorist organization caused unprecedented clamor in Tunisia, as well as a unique popular uprising. Officials in the Tunisian government hastened to deny their country's involvement with the Arab States in this unprecedented action that shocked the local public opinion.
There is No Governmental Resolution
In this context, Minister Khaled Shawkat, assigned for relationship with the Parliament, and the Tunisian Government's Spokesperson, said in an exclusive interview with "al-Ahed" that the stances of the Tunisian state regarding the foreign issues are announced by the ruling institutions such as the presidency or the government.
Therefore, according to the minister, what happened in describing Hizbullah is not related to a Tunisian governmental resolution, but rather to a statement issued after the meeting of Arab Foreign Ministers that was held in Tunisia, the headquarters of the building that belongs to the Arab League.
Shawkat further added that: "the statement doesn't "classify", it rather "describes", and there is a huge difference between the classification and the description."
Absolute Denial
The Tunisian minister summed up his words asserting that the Tunisian government didn't classify Hizbullah as a terrorist organization, adding that Tunisia is not committed to what is decided by other sister and friendly countries in this context.
Tunisia, according to Shawkat, doesn't interfere in any country's internal affairs and doesn't allow others to interfere in its affairs or even accept any dictations over its decisions that represent the heart of the national sovereignty provided by the Constitution and watered with the blood of the martyrs.
