Hizbullah Media Relations office issued a statement commenting on the reaction of 'March 14' forces over the popular movements calling for the release of political detainees in the government's prisons, including the four officers and other detainees. It came as follows:
With closed eyes on the language employed by the figures of the ruling party which is a candid reflection of their characters, it is of importance that we emphasize the following:
First: The ruling team's rhetoric over the officers, both before and after their arrest, constitutes a political accusation and reflects an attitude of vengeance and settlements of political scores. They are the ones who accused and arrested and put on trial and passed judgments and, therefore, they need such media uproar to provide cover to the arrest of the four generals which constitutes a crime against humanity.
Second: The acknowledgment of the innocence of these officers is an indictment of the political history of this team, and this is why they are seeking more provocation and intimidation in order to provide obscurity and a cover up to this political arrest.
Third: We advise the ruling team to submit the Lebanese public opinion in place of pandemonium the indictment as evidence to the continued arrest of the four generals, and have the judicial authorities press clear charges justifying their arrest.
Fourth: The revengeful accusatory tone signifies that this arrest is political and has no legal basis. It is the very language that impedes the exposure of the truth and hinders the discovery of the truth and obstructs the disclosure of the actual murderer. From a humanitarian and national sense of responsibility, this matter requires work on freeing the four officers and the other detainees.
