Hizbullah: Stirring partisanship and terrifying people will not aid Hariri in covering up his dreadful mistakes and cost

14-05-2008
Hizbullah issued the following statement:
We are astonished at the statement issued by mp Saad Hariri who portrays him self as the victim defending Akkar residents, mounting up groundless accusations and falsehoods concerning Hizbullah's intentions towards them (Akkar residents), examining assassination scenarios for a number of personalities, and laying the responsibility on Hizbullah for whatever happens!
To clarify to the public opinion and to refute the delusions made in the slandered statement, we shed light on the following:
1- The latest incidental events have not changed Hizbullah's views of the Lebanese people and of its various factions that have a right to political disagreement and the political expression of that disagreement. We do not view anyone in the eyes of enmity or revenge, let alone to our fellow brothers in religion and the country among the Akkar residents and prominent personalities, and they have a right to debate us on disputed matters with proof and evidence, and Allah remains the judge on witness on us and on them.
2- Stirring partisanship and terrifying people will not benefit Saad Hariri in covering up his dreadful mistakes and costly political options, and no matter how high he hollers, we will face evidence with evidence , stance with stance, and we will not be dragged into sedition or play on notes of (evil) instinct nor into disagreeable means behind which the street movements hide and employ ugly means and severe punishment which our religion rejects as well as all other heavenly doctrines and all humanitarian and international conventions.
3- To everyone far and near, it is known that Hizbullah determined its enemy as ‘Israel' and doesn't believe in assassinations or in armed conflicts over internal disputes. The nuzzle will ever be pointed at the aggressing Zionists. Even as it has performed a small procedure to defend the resistance's arms, Hizbullah's past and present are witnesses of its moral actions towards national partners whatever party they belong to, and does not resort to midnight backstage conspiracies and does not condition its positions on foreigners.
4- We hope of you, Mr. Saad, to revise this style of address and instigation. Let us all work together to bring Lebanon to a place of safety. People are in need of what brings them together not of what divides them. We will take this approach as is our diligence, for this is our option to save Lebanon and the Lebanese.
