Former PM Omar Karami noted today that what happened recently was expected because the Lebanese crisis is related to the 1559 resolution, the sectarian division between the Lebanese people, the difficulties in forming a national-unity government and the paralysis in the work of the institutions.
Karami said, "We hope that the dialogue in Doha will be positive and that a national-unity cabinet gets formed soon so that it can work on a new electoral law."
After meeting with US Charge d'Affaires Michelle Sison, Karami emphasized that, "The resistance is an integral part of the Lebanese system, and it has proven its ability by liberating a large part of the country from 'Israeli' occupation," he said, adding that, "Any attack on the resistance before they accomplish their goals cannot pass peacefully."
Karami said he considers that the positive signs shown by the Arab Ministerial Commission and its results show that the powers that have been intervening in the Lebanese crisis have allowed a solution to take place.
