Khalid bin Ali bin Abdullah al-Humaidan, member of Council of Political and Security Affairs of Saudi Arabia asserted in his conversation with BBC Arabic: "available evidence points to an imminent coup in UAE against Mohammed bin Zayed."

The Director of Saudi General Intelligence Presidency [GIP] further continued: "all political experts predict that Sultan bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan aims to coup against Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in near future."
The main reason behind this move is that Sultan bin Zayed lost two of his positions as Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Supreme Council because of Mohammed bin Zayed's plots against him. However, Americans are attempting to prevent the coup through diplomatic channels.
The intelligence figure added: "Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan has also protested against the administrative policies of Mohammed bin Zayed".
The man also noted that: "in his speech for military officers in Zabeel, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates criticized Mohammed bin Zayed's weak relationship with Saudi Arabia and emphasized that his unwarranted military intervention in Yemen humiliated UAE in its relationship with Saudi Arabia."
He finally explained that some high-ranking UAE officials such as Sheikh Saif bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan reproached Mohammed bin Zayed for his incompetent leadership.
