23 years have passed on the martyrdom of Shiekh Ragheb Harb, known as the sheikh of the martyrs of the resistance. Once, an "Israeli" occupation officer extended his hand to shake the Imam of the southern town of Jibshit, the sheikh refused and said: "You are occupiers, I don not shake hands with you and I do not sit with you, get out of my country." One of his famous quotations before he was assassinated on the 16th of February 1984: "A position is a weapon and a hand shake is an acknowledgement," referring to the acknowledgement of "Israel". Sheikh Harb transformed Jibshit`s mosque and (Husseiniyah) into a platform for resistance activity in the face of the "Israeli" occupation. His positions prompted the "Israeli"s to detain him, what sparked an uprising across south Lebanon on the 17th of March 1983, to demand his release and the release of other detainees in the Ansar detention center as well as the withdrawal of "Israeli" occupation forces from Lebanon. The "Israeli" released Sheikh Harb after 17 days of detention. He returned to his mosque more determined to resist and seized every Friday prayer to stimulate the people against the "Israeli" occupation. He established the "Sayyida Zeinab (pbuh)" orphanage as well as the Muslim treasury to grant small loans to those in need. The martyr also built an additional building to the "Sharqiyah" elementary school and initiated the "Martyr Association."
