Hizbullah considered the Resolution 1680 as an interference in a sovereign affair between two independent states. It can be put in the context of increasing pressure on Syria and Lebanon and not as an interesting in Lebanon`s dependence.
Commenting on the issuance of the resolution, Hizbullah said in a statement: "the UN Resolution impedes the urging efforts which had been exerted on many levels to secure the appropriate climates for settling up good relations between Lebanon and Syria. This will lead to torpedoing these efforts and pushing the relationships into a tense atmosphere as well as subjecting them to the bargains of international interests which will not be in the favor of interest of the two brother peoples. Also, it will pave the way before those who are hurt from the establishing natural relationships between the two countries for the purpose of affecting the future of these relations."
The statement added: " the UN Security Council, which entitles itself with the right of interfering in a sovereign affair between two independent states, did not tackle the daily flagrant violations committed by "Israel" on the land, sea and air levels against the Lebanese sovereignty, thus, confirming inattention on Lebanon`s independence and sovereignty, especially, when the aggressor side is "Israel".
The statement concluded saying: "the Security Council reveals that its resolution is not coming but in the context of increasing pressure against Syria and Lebanon and not as an interesting in Lebanon`s independence."
