In a clarification of the incidents that occurred in the Bekaa and Beirut, a media source in Hizbullah issued the following statement:
Hussein Dandash was assaulted on Sunday evening on 8/6/2008 by ten individuals from the Future movement in the Taalabaya area. And when he attempted to defend himself, the attackers fled.
Two were identified, one from Duna family and the other from the Hushaimi family. When the assailants returned to attack at the end of the alley in Taalabya, where the victim lives, they were met by local residents who stopped the attack. Afterwards, the army and security forces intervened and spread out for an hour. They later pulled out.
The source clarified that after 1 a.m. the house of Hussein Mustrah was shot at in the Taalabaya area, meanwhile militiamen from the Future movement launched mortars and RPG's at the ends of the alley where the residents live, forcing the residents to defend themselves.
In the meantime, several gatherings of the Future militia in certain villages in the area randomly opened fire. The army intervened and took control over the incident. Some calls were made to prominent personalities in the area on the basis that it is no longer acceptable for assaults, road blocking and provocations to continue in this manner.
In Beirut a number of people assaulted a citizen from the Matar family. The details reveal that Matar, a cab driver, was on his way home at night when a group of people intercepted him at the Kola-Sports Stadium. They cursed the opposition and resistance leaderships and attacked the driver on the head with sticks and knives. The same militia assaulted Mohammad Remmo and Hassan Sabra as they passed by Tarik Jdidi, where they were beaten with sticks and knives.
