summary: Sharon is pursuing his plans and massacres. Nothing will stand in his way except the Almighty. Until that time it is difficult to portray him in another image than that of one who is endlessly working on enlarging the axis or the demarcation line between Egypt and Palestine.
How will that happen?‏
The destruction of most parts of the Rafah refugee camp will be carried out while preserving the four "Israeli" settlements in North Gaza, and keeping these settlements as "a basic security point for the "Israeli" army to be able to follow its hot pursuits". This means urgent military intervention to protect "Israel" and prevent it from endangering international peace and security, under the pretext of "security".‏
Under this innocent appellation, Sharon is said to be carrying out his plan to evacuate the Gaza Strip, having been forced to amend his original plan because of the pressure exerted on him by extremist rightists who were behind 60% of the Likud votes against the plan.‏
In view of the satanic Sharonite plans, the Americans make statements that cannot be translated into any language. The meeting of Prime Minister Ahmad Korei and Secretary of State Colin Powell was more like a public relations function. The same well-worn theme was repeated: the Palestinians must strike at "terror". Why is it that when US officials meet with their "Israeli" counterparts, nothing is said of Tel Aviv's obligation under the ‘road map' to freeze all settlement-building? Sharon and his associates fulminate about President Arafat as an "obstacle to peace", but in fact it is Sharon -- who is as busy as ever building new settlements -- who is the obstacle.‏
Powell also noted that the final Palestinian-"Israeli" agreement will be reached "through negotiations between the two parties", not by a diktat imposed by Washington/Tel Aviv. But who will be negotiating on the Palestinian side? Washington/Tel Aviv have arbitrarily ruled out President Yasser Arafat as a negotiating partner, but since he is the elected leader of the Palestinian people, who other than he and Prime Minister Ahmad Korei could be leading a Palestinian delegation to the talks? How will the Bush-Sharon team come up with other leaders who will enjoy credibility with the Palestinian people?‏
And what kind of acceptable solution is possible following President Bush's decision that it would be "unrealistic" to expect "Israel" to evacuate all occupied territories and "unrealistic" to allow the refugees to return to their homes in what is now "Israel"?‏
The cynicism of these Bush statements is plain when we realize that they have nothing to do with Arabs or "Israelis" but are intended only to curry favor with sections of the American electorate as the presidential poll approaches.‏
Sharon will be compelled to withdraw from the majority of Gaza due to the attacks of the Resistance, no matter how many tremendous massacres he perpetrates. But he wants to barter that with parts of the West Bank, according to Bush's assurances about canceling UN resolutions on evacuating all the occupied territories and on allowing the refugees to return.‏
But hasn't Sharon learned the lesson of South Lebanon? There too "Israel" tried to continue an occupation of Arab land, and there it was forced to withdraw. So it will be, first in the Gaza Strip, then the West Bank.‏
