Sheikh Nabil Qaouk, a Hizbullah official in South Lebanon, said that Hizbullah, Amal and opposition leaders are keen on preserving consensus but are open to dialogue and discussions that guarantee the Resistance's achievements are protected.

Qaouk said, during a ceremony in commemoration of the July 2006 war and those who died in the second Qana massacre, that Hizbullah has entered the government to protect the Resistance, its achievements and "the blood that was shed by its martyrs."

"The days when the US would interfere to determine the course of a ministerial statement or to impose dictates on the Lebanese government are gone," Qaouk said.

"We are not interested in what Terje Roed Larson is expecting from the ministerial statement. We are more interested that the ministerial statement is a strong political message that causes "Israel" despair and disappoints the US over any internal role hostile to the Resistance," he added.

Qaouk said that the Resistance is a pillar in the confrontation against "Israel" and an important part of building a strong and effective state.
