Lebanese MPs on Tuesday hold their final session to discuss the policy statement before granting the new government their confidence.
On Monday and during the evening session, the head of the Loyalty to the Resistance parliamentary bloc MP Mohammad Raad, regretted the campaign launched by some MPs on Hizbullah at a time all Lebanese factions should stand up together and face the coming stage. "I don't know if we have really begun the process of solving the crisis in Lebanon," Raad said. "Everyone must start speaking in terms of solutions, rather than problems."
He called for "integration between the state and the resistance", noting the future national dialogue to be sponsored by President Michel Suleiman is to tackle the defense strategy and not resistance weapons.
"There is no justification to negotiate over the resistance weapons," Raad told MPs. "We are determined to reach, through national dialogue sponsored by the president, agreement on the widest possible Lebanese concept of the defense strategy and a mechanism for implementing it," Raad added. "Constructive self-criticism is critical," Raad said, adding that "some have already started to do so and this is something good."
He also said that consensus in Lebanon "is not a negative characteristic, but a positive one."
Addressing the issue of "Israel", Raad said that it was an illusion to think that the land occupied by "Israel" could be regained through better relations with the US.
He also stressed harmony between the Resistance and the state. "This harmony will also be present in our relations with the government."
MP Ahmed Fatfat of the Future Movement, followed the lead of other MPs of his "March 14" bloc and launched a verbal attack on the resistance calling what happened on May 7 as the "invasion of Beirut."
MP Ali Ammar, who also is member of Hizbullah's parliamentary bloc, criticized Fatfat as being the "mouthpiece of the Americans and "Israelis" and went into a verbal quarrel with the MP, which was only contained by Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri. "I thank Fatfat for giving a lesson in provocation and the rhetorical tactics employed by the US and "Israel"."
