Graziano says Hizbullah supports UNSCR 1701

UNIFIL Commander in South Lebanon Major-General Claudio Graziano said that his forces' rules of engagement have not changed since the adoption of the Lebanese ministerial statement.
"The ministerial statement does not influence UNIFIL's mandate," Graziano told reporters on Thursday at the UN headquarters in New York.
"There is no need to change the rules of engagement, as all parties have reiterated their support to UNIFIL," he added, noting that Hizbullah is one of the parties that supports UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
He also said he hopes a solution is found for the village of Ghajar, half of which is in "Israel", half in Lebanon, and described the situation there as an ongoing violation of UNSCR 1701. He also noted the continuing "Israeli" flights over Lebanon, also a violation of the resolution.
He called on the international community to provide support to the Lebanese army, "which is an important partner to UNIFIL" in the area from the Litani River to the border with "Israel".
